The Utah Safe School Coalition and OUTreach Resource Centers welcome Tracy Flynn, Educational Consultant from the Human Rights Campaign’s Welcoming Schools program.
~ Utah Premier of “What Can We Do? Bias, Bullying, and Bystanders”~
This short film spotlights teachers in the classroom generating open conversations with students about the impact of bullying and the power of students standing up for each other. It was filmed in two schools in the Twin Cities that have adopted Welcoming Schools, a comprehensive approach to creating inclusive school climates that embrace all forms of diversity.
Welcoming Schools provides schools with tools and resources for professional development, family engagement, leadership development, and inclusive classrooms. There are over 25 lesson plans in the Welcoming Schools guide, including the 3 used in “What Can We Do? Bias, Bullying, and Bystanders.”
Evening will include a meal, the film presentation and community discussion.
